Throughout the Decades by Molly Lamb Bobak and Bruno Bobak
The art has been written and talked about by eloquent people for years and so it is only possible to state simply that Molly Lamb Bobak and Bruno Bobak’s art is as good as the best art ever made. They were genuinely great artists whose excellent work continues to be revered.
The Bobaks were important Canadians and where did they choose to lay down their roots? In Fredericton, New Brunswick. They were our neighbours. We have the memories, the stories and the art that will continue to tell the history of New Brunswick and beyond.
Gallery 78 is thrilled to have gathered many works of the Bobaks for this exhibition as a continued celebration of their lives and their art.
It has been said that Molly’s paintings were direct expressions of her exuberant and authentic self. Her paintings called “celebratory affirmations of life's persistence in the face of all that would deny it.” Bruno has been called a visionary whose stories were "universal and timeless, and his artworks were compelling and powerful.
As Gallery 78 celebrates its 50th year, we honour two of our dear friends that were an integral part of our journey. Explore “Throughout the Decades” and revel in the myriads of styles and media of these two celebrated Canadian painters.
This exhibition will be on display until June 6th, 2026.
