Greg Dow is a Canadian artist, born in the prairie province of Saskatchewan. He has lived from coast to coast in Canada, and parts of the United States and Europe. Greg’s life experiences, both as a child often moving with family and through his travels as an adult, give him a broad perspective on life and art which is apparent in his work.
During his decades as a painter Greg held many one-man shows, including exhibitions in Kingston, London, Ottawa, and Toronto in Ontario as well as Montreal, Quebec, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Hamilton, Bermuda.
Greg’s art can be found in many private and corporate collections such as Queen’s University, City of Ottawa Art Collection, and Sir Sanford Fleming College.
Greg commits himself full time to his art. In spite of a strong pull toward abstract work he maintains a representative approach because he believes people respond to the abstract and aesthetic experience through familiar imagery. He now paints what speaks to him at the level of the specific subject but also, more important to him, at the level of the questions and challenges intrinsic to art.
Established in 1976, Gallery 78 represents artworks of established and emerging Atlantic Canadian artists.
