This group of paintings were realized during a period of illness which found me spending a great deal of the summer and fall hospitalized owing to heart failure. When the gallery contacted me for a show title I initially said " Call it the Last Show"; much to the displeasure of my friends at Gallery 78. However, it seemed a little too bleak and so the less grim title "Eastern Canadian Paintings " was settled upon.

The paintings are interpreted from images I took during my extended wanderings and vigils to my usual haunts: Herring Cove NS, the Miramichi and the rest of NB. I am currently recovering from open heart surgery and wish to dedicate this show to the people who literally saved my life, particularly Dr. Jean Francois Légaré.
