ARTIST STATEMENT
This particular orchid is called "Magnifica". Since there are over 25,000 orchid species I won't delve into its symbolism except to say I just find it beautiful and elegant.
In painting I like a world where I compare and contrast, so it seems fitting to juxtapose the orchid with the wooden textured buoys from my studio.
Reflecting on it, this painting was as much a meditation as it was a process of mind and composition.
