My goal is to create wearable art while keeping my mind stimulated and body active as I age. Nature provides a strong influence to my work.  I love to cut and polish stones to reveal their inner beauty and then to set them in a manner to highlight a specific aspect of the stone.  Currently I am working on a series of pods using fold forming techniques including air chasing. This work is developing out of the work of an independent study at NBCCD the fall of 2019.  I prefer to make as many components as possible including chains and findings.

I am influenced by the work of the Native Americans of the US southwest. I use silver beads in some of my work. I also use a shot block to create decorative shot to embellish pieces.  I draw from my Celtic heritage as well; sometimes adding chainmail components.

I have been attending NBCCD Metal Arts / Jewelry program as a part time student since my retirement in 2015.  I have also attended summer metalsmithing classes at Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre.  During my winters in Florida, I have taken several stone cutting and polishing classes at my local Gem and Mineral Society. I have also attended William Holland School of Lapidary Arts in Georgia when I have taken classes in Opals.
