Please join vocalist Céline Cormier, guitarist Steven Peacock and bassist Howard Baer in When Classical Meets Jazz, a varied program of instrumental and vocal selections taking place at Gallery 78, 796 Queen Street, on Friday, November 6 at 7 p.m. The instrumental offerings, many of them composed by the players, explore a number of ways in which the classical and jazz idioms can intersect in music for classical guitar and ukulele bass, not only stylistically, but also in terms of form, melody, harmony and technique. The songs include beloved jazz standards in both the French and English traditions, representing not only the Great American Songbook but also swing tunes and ballads with a distinctive Parisian sensibility. Admission is by voluntary contribution.
