« Traitement magnifique de ce thème des danseuses. Le rythme de ces dernières est révélé dans le rythme de la composition elle-même ; l'œil du spectateur se pose au coin inférieur gauche. Il est dirigé à une première danseuse vue de dos. La direction de ses jambes nous amène à la danse et ses bras vers la direction de la danse telle une farandole. Les taches sombres de sa robe en font une figure-repoussoir jusqu'à la figure du fond, qui lui réfléchit de face. Une seconde figure-repoussoir, à droite, ferme le cercle de son corps ; ce corps est saisi à un point très dynamique. La direction de son regard nous dirige au centre vers la quatrième danseuse, véritable figure de proue. Félicitations pour cette œuvre sublime ! »

It is directed at a first dancer seen from the back. The direction of her legs leads us to the dance and her arms towards the dance like a farandole. The dark spots of the dress make her a repoussoir to the figure in the background, which reflects her directly. A second repoussoir, on the right, completes the circle of her body; this body is captured at a very dynamic point.
